These pneumatically actuated fan units were introduced after the enormous success of our hydraulically actuated FX Series fans. Our AX fans cater to customers wanting all the same features and benefits, only without the hydraulics. Where the FX Series uses a hydraulic actuator to change blade pitch, the AX uses air pressure and a spring.

The idea is simple; air pressure (approx. 90 psi) moves a piston pushing the blades in one direction, and a spring returns them to their normal blower or sucker position. In this case, the air dam effect is mechanical and is created when a specified air pressure holds the spring-loaded piston in the neutral position. If air is not available, we can supply a small compressor kit to accompany the fan.
